The Snow is on its Way

I walked out of the house today with mixed feelings. On one hand it’s getting easier to walk on the paths but on the other, everything is starting to look much more ordinary. I now find myself, after living with it for weeks, missing the snow. I decided to take a look through some of the recent shots and pick out a few I liked.

The image shown here is of a farm track on the hill above the village where I live. I have long been a fan of the black and white images of Michael Kenna (you will find a link to his website under "Resources“) and particularly his work from Japan. These minimalist images seem to have a very tranquil and haunting appeal. Whilst I don’t wish to copy his work, the snow did bring an opportunity to try out my own minimalist style. Look carefully and you will see the fence leading off into the distance.

Just checked the weather forecast and it looks like more snow on the way later in the week.
