Should Know Better

OK, it’s time for me to have a bit of a rant. I am becoming increasingly frustrated by some of the behaviours of people on Flickr. I suspect this is just a limited number of people but I want to make my point. Recently I have responded to a few "request for feedback“ in quite an honest way. The result has been quite confrontational. I suggest people don’t ask for "honest“ feedback if all they want is other people telling them how great their work is. Now I realise not everyone’s work is to everyone else’s tastes but when I see cluttered images with no real purpose or crooked horizons, if you ask me for feedback I will give it. If you don’t want to know what I really think are the areas for improvement in your work, don’t ask me.

Now, the frustrating thing I find is that this behaviour isn’t confined to just amateur photographers, I have actually experienced it from well known pro’s. To give an example, I was recently looking at a wonderful picture of a bridge. The light was stunning and the composition excellent. It had clearly been done with a masters touch but there was a big problem for me
