No time for Photography and the need for patience
I can’t believe that it’s been a three weeks since I last picked up my camera to take some photographs. I just haven’t had time in the day or night to get out with the camera and life is getting busier. I seem to spend most of my time writing about photography rather than actually taking pictures, so today I thought I would look back at some of my recent archives that I have yet to process.
This particular shot was on my Northumberland trip back in November. It’s just reminded me that I have 100’s of Gigabytes of photographs waiting to be processed and I can’t find the time. This is the danger of digital; it’s far too easy to fill up a 16 GB card with images and leave the files languishing on your hard drive waiting to be tagged and processed.
The particular image was taken on the beach at Bamburgh with my back to the castle. The castle is really a sunrise location although if you are fortunate and there is good light at the end of the day, it will catch it for a while. On this particular evening there was just too much cloud and the castle was very flat. And grey.
The picture however servers to remind me that I should preserver at a location even if I think the chances are poor. Just as I thought there would be no sunset the cloud started to move away. The brightly coloured cloud you see on the left of the image is the tail end of the heavy bank that blocked out the sun from the castle. I really like the edge of weather fronts such as this as they tend to be followed by very clean light and wonderful sky. The scene itself probably isn’t the prettiest coastal location but great light like this is always worth photographing.
